I can't offer specific advice for Mac use, my library uses Windows-based software (DOS when we got it). Booxter for the Mac has always been the app of choice for serious collectors. Typing the whole ISBN number or the like would be kinda slow. MacBooster is an easy-to-use yet powerful utility to maintain and protect your Mac. Depending on the number of books you only end up with 4 or 5 digit numbers and they type in fast. Start with the first book and call it 000001 go on from there. However, bar coding is nice for doing inventories. Using it you can transform any audio on Mac. Its really almost as fast to just use a unique ID number for each book and type it in when the book is checked out than to use a bar code. Simple to use system-wide Mac volume booster that offers a wide range of built-in equalizer. It may work great, but might be overkill for us.
